With the release of the new expansion Wrath of the Lich King a new class was also released. This
WoW Death Knight guide will help you by giving a few tips and tricks to get the most out of the new addition.
The Death Knight is the first in what is called the ‘Hero’ class. You can’t get the Death Knight
until you have a character at Level 55 or above on the same realm that you want to play as a Death Knight meaning
you need to have been playing for a while unlike the other classes you can choose.

You may have to wait a while to choose this new class but the pros are awesome. Its roles in the
game are as a Tank for small groups or a DPS melee role using disease effects amongst others.
The Death Knight has a unique talent tree for you to build on. Depending on what you want to do
with your character you have Blood, Frost and Unholy skill to place talent points on and make your own version of
the Death Knight.
WoW Death Knight Guide - Talent
Tree
-
Blood focuses on weapons, armour and strikes.
-
Frost focuses on control, counters and combos.
-
Unholy focuses on spells, summons and diseases.
The Death Knight utilises Runes to use their abilities. These also come in the 3 types; Blood,
Frost and Unholy. Once you have used these runes and have to wait for what it calls the Cool down instead of the
normal energy you would expect, and then you can use it again.
Each time you use the runes you also build up Rune power, which is pretty similar to a Warrior’s
rage. You can use this to boost all sorts of things but if you don’t use it in a set time then it will start to run
out so strike with it while you can!
One of the core new abilities that the Death Knight has is the ability to raise minions from the
Undead. Amongst other things you can raise a ghoul to be your companion by using the corpse of a fallen creature
whether they were friendly or not.
You can also summon an army of Undead to attack for you but they only last for a short while and
then disappear again, but my favourite new thing to do with summoning is to get yourself a Deathcharger. This level
40 land mount really helps getting you around and really no Death Knight should be without a mount should they! You
can even learn how to get an Epic version later in the game.
But in my opinion the very best part of choosing a Death Knight in World of Warcraft is the
flexibility you have when shaping the character. There is a lot of choice out there when it comes to equipping your
character and the Death Knight is only as good as the equipment you give him/her.
